2. About IAAHS
The Iberia African American Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, researching, and educating the public about African American history in Iberia Parish, Louisiana.
3. Use of the Site
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. You may not:
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site or its systems
Use automated tools (scrapers, bots) to harvest content without our written permission
Post or transmit anything unlawful, defamatory, or infringing on another’s rights
Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with IAAHS
4. Intellectual Property
Content on this Site — including text, photographs, oral histories, archival materials, logos, and design — is owned by IAAHS or used with permission from contributors and partner organizations, and is protected by copyright law. See our Copyright and Permissions page for full details on how you may use archival and historical content.
5. User-Submitted Content
If you submit family histories, photographs, oral histories, or other materials to IAAHS (through our archive submission process, membership forms, or otherwise), you represent that:
You own the material or have the right to share it
You grant IAAHS a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to preserve, display, and use the material for the Society’s educational and archival mission, under the terms agreed to at the time of submission
Specific rights and attribution terms for archival donations are governed by a separate donation/release agreement, where applicable.
6. Memberships and Donations
Membership dues and donations made through the Site are processed via a third-party payment processor
Donations to IAAHS, a 501(c)(3) organization, may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; consult your tax advisor
Membership benefits, renewal terms, and refund policies (if any) are described on the Membership page
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Site and its content are provided “as is.” While we strive for historical accuracy, IAAHS makes no warranties regarding the completeness or accuracy of archival, genealogical, or historical information presented, which may be based on oral testimony, family records, or incomplete historical documentation.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAAHS is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content.
9. Links to Third-Party Sites
The Site may link to partner and research organizations. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of external sites.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

We may revise these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
