Celebrating the History of Black Women of Iberia Parish
The Iberia African American Historical Society is proud to announce HistoryFEST 2026, the first of a new annual festival dedicated to celebrating the true and inclusive history of Iberia Parish.
This year’s festival is centered on the history of Black women of Iberia Parish and its surrounding countryside: their leadership, labor, creativity, faith, intellect, service, family life, and community-building across generations.
Through scholarship, storytelling, art, literature, music, faith, and community participation, HistoryFEST brings their stories into the center of how this parish understands itself.

Share Her Story
Help us build a growing historical collection by sharing the name, story, photograph, or materials of a Black woman connected to Iberia Parish. She may be living or deceased. She might be your grandmother, a teacher, a church member, a neighbor, or a woman you have heard about all your life.
Share Her Story →Elder Oral History Project
During HistoryFEST, elder Black women of Iberia Parish will be invited to record their own stories and reflections, preserving their voices and experiences for future generations.
